Sadar Hill ADC kidnapping takes interesting twist

IMPHAL, March 21: The Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council Vice Chairman abduction case got interesting today, with the VC and his two companion being released by their abductors on Tuesday night and Sadar Hills ADC SH Seipu claiming Hankholal Hanshing and the two other ADC members were not kidnapped but picked up by cadres of Kuki National Front (KNF) for a talk.

Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council Vice Chairman, Haokholal Hungsing and his companions ADC member Thangkam Misao and Seikholun Khongsai who were abducted on March 19 night allegedly by cadres of KNF (P) were released by their abductors on Tuesday night.

According to a source, the three were left at the residence of one Thangkam Misao at New Lambulane at around 11pm Tuesday night. Even though the families have failed to report the matter of the abduction to the concerned police station, the Porompat Police has taken up a Suo-moto case in this regard, added a police source.

Meanwhile, according to the Newmai News Network, “Seven members of Autonomous District Council (ADC), Sadar Hills have been held hostage at gun point after kidnapping them for the last 18 days by Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA), alleged chairman of Sadar Hills ADC SH Seipu”.

SH Seipu said that on March 3 the seven ADC members who are his supporters were kidnapped by cadres of the KRA and they have been held hostage at T Gammon village community hall under Saikul police station, the news network informed.

“We have reported the matter to all the concerned authority officially but till today no action has been initiated by the authority,” lamented the ADC chairman according to the NNN.

Today`s comment from the chairman of Sadar Hills ADC came a day after the vice chairman of the ADC Mr Hankholal Hanshing and two others were kidnapped and released, the NNN stated.

Seipu said Hankholal Hanshing and the two other ADC members were not kidnapped but picked up by cadres of Kuki National Front (KNF) for a talk.

According to the police, these three ADC members reportedly abducted from New Lambulane in Imphal on Monday evening, have been released late last night. SH Seipu denied involvement in the incident, the NNN stated.

It can be noted that the fracas in the Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council came to open a week ago when the vice chairman of the Council moved for the removal of the chairman.
