Suspected militants, drug peddlers held

IMPHAL, March 31: Security forces have arrested two militant suspects belonging to different underground outfits and four drug peddlers from separate operations in the state during March 30-31.

Thoubal district police commandos arrested two alleged PREPAK cadres from Wangjing Bazar and Thongju Pechu lampak.

The two militant suspects have been identified as Yendrembam Indramani Singh alias Leishemba, 38 son of Y Mijao Singh of Kakching Khunyai leikai who was arrested from Wangoi bazar at around 3pm on March 30 and Wangkheimayum Binojini Devi alias Abe, 37 wife of W Maimu Singh of Iram Siphai Mayi leikai.

Binojini was arrested from Thongju Pechu lampak which lies under Singjamei police station at around 4pm on March 30.

A PRO hq IGAR (S) statement has stated that troops of 28 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under hq IGAR apprehended four drug peddlers on march 30 from Lilong Turel Ahenbi, Imphal west.

The four has been identified as Nuruddin, 24 son of Adul Basis, resident of Lilong Makha Leikai, ZIUR Rahman, 27, son of Islauddin, Munir, 37 son of Abdullah alias Noor Rahman both residents of Lilong Turel Ahenbi and Yahiya, 30 son of Abdul Gaffar resident of Lilng Sarukhong.

Six kgs of poppy husk, one processing machine and four tin of Lime stones were recovered from them, the statement added. They were later handed over to the NCB, the release stated.
