Two couples among arrested militants

IMPHAL, Mar 21: Imphal east police commandos have managed to arrest five alleged militants from the district since Tuesday, stated an official release of the Imphal east district SP.

According to the statement, a team of the district commandos arrested one PULF cadre identified as one Md Abash Khan alias Aba, 27, son of Md Aouriya of Khurai Heikru Makhong from Kairang area on March 21 at around 11:45am.

The arrested cadre disclosed that he joined the PULF in the year 2006 through one Md Samir of Kairang and that he is involved in the extortion of money from the general public, govt officials and private firms.

In another incident, on March 20 at around 1:15pm a team of cdo Imphal eat arrested four PREPAK cadres identified as Kumar Jacky Singh alias Bung, 30 son of (L) K ram Singh of Moirang Kuman Leikai and at present staying at Kanglatombi near Oil Pump, Thounoujam (N) Hemabati Devi, 37, wife of Kumar Jacky, Elangbam Priyo Singh alias Kesho, 36 son of E Dwijamani Singh of Lamjao Awang Leikai at present Thangmeiband Hijam Dewan Leikai and Mongjam (N) Sunita Devi, 39 wife of E Priyo Singh from New Checkon near Manu English School, stated the statement.

On further verification, they disclosed that they joined the outfit in the month of January 2011 through one Tangba who is now in Myanmar.

They further disclosed that they have recruited many youths from the valley districts of the state as well as from Assam. They further identified two of their recent recruits as Manihar, 24 and Moirangjao both from Hojai Langka, Assam who are undergoing basic training in Myanmar.

They have also disclosed that they were involved in extortion of money from the general public and others, the statement added.
