Ukhrul Seminar fon Major Bob Khathing

UKHRUL, March 25: A seminar commemorating (l) Major Bob Khating with the theme “consolidation of Peace in Ukhrul” was staged at the 17 Assam Rifles Ukhrul post auditorium hall with a massive participation from the locals.

The seminar evoked a brain storming session with prominent speakers including ex-member Human Rights Commission Yambem Laba, WA Sishak, RS Jassal and former minister RV Mingthing as attendees.

DIG, 17th Assam Riffles Brigadier Narender Kumar, 10 Sectoer B`Range, Somsai gave the key-note address.

In his speech, prominent speaker Yambem Laba elaborated on the inherent contradiction and challenges to peace. WA Sishak gave his speech on the topic, “Developing local capacities for peace” and shared the meaning of real peace.

He also said that the Naga issue is the issue before India`s Independence and that Nagas are not ruled by any Nation since the time when British ruled in India but Nagas have been suffering for long at the backdrop due to the unsettled Indo-Naga peace process.

Dr. RV. Mingthing emphasized that peace and development should go side-by side and the capacity to build peace lies with us and will not come from others, stating this note while he was speaking on the topic of the role of social organizations in which he recommended the views that need to change in good mind-set with all people and the Government to come-together.

The seminar was participated by all leading Tangkhul social organizations, students` organizations, youth organizations, School institutions, government departmental heads, women`s organizations, intellectuals and numerous localities representatives from across the Ukhrul Headquarter.
