IMPHAL, April 1: While accepting the verdict of the recent Manipur assembly elections, the BJP has set a timeframe of four months for the Okram Ibobi led Congress government to deliver on its promises.

BJP National Spokesperson Prakash Javedkar was speaking to members of the media at the BJP office at Nityapat Chuthek here this afternoon.

Besides Prakash Javedkar, the BJP NE-in-charge Tapir Gao and Manipur state BJP President Shantikumar Sharma were also present at the press conference.

Javedkar said, ‘The BJP, with the help of the people of the state, will launch every possible agitation if the state government fails to live up to its promises.”

He accused the Congress government in Manipur of not spelling out its agenda in the recent budget session of the state assembly.

The BJP leader said, ‘There was no reflection of good governance in the budget recently presented by the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and it was not a people-friendly budget.’

Taking a dig on the Congress Javedkar said, although BJP could not win even a single seat in the 10th Manipur assembly the two-thirds majority even surprised the Congress high command which could only mean that votes were ‘bought.’

He said the Congress will be routed out in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and it will not be able to form the government at the Centre.

BJP would continue to raise various issues of Manipur in the Parliament, Javedkar assured.
