KCP Fin Secy held at Nepal border

IMPHAL, April 1: The NIA (National Investigation Agency) busted a hideout of the banned KCP (MTF) on the Indo-Nepal border and nabbed two cadres including the outfit’s Finance Secretary, according to highly placed sources.

However, the Commander-in-Chief of the banned outfit Naorem Kesho Meitei managed to escape, the sources added.

Sources said, a team of NIA sleuths raided a rented house somewhere on the India-Nepal border on March 22 at around 5 pm after receiving tip-off that the KCP (MTF) C-in-C Kesho Meitei was staying there.

During the raid, the self-styled Finance Secretary of the outfit Yumlembam Ingo Singh was arrested along with a suspected cadre belonging to the militant group while Kesho Meitei escaped.

It is believed that Kesho Meitei fled along with two hardcore activists of KCP (MTF) from the rented house on seeing the NIA personnel, the source added.

Yumlembam Ingo, aged 38, is a resident of Wangoi Thiyam of Thoubal district, presently staying at Langol in Imphal West, while the other suspected militant is Yumnam Rajesh, 22 from Langol, the source said.

The outfit’s commander-in-chief Naorem Kesho Meitei alias Inakkhunba alias Priyo, son of Ningthemjao hails from Uchiwa Wangmataba under the Mayang Imphal police station in Imphal West.

During the raid, the NIA seized one laptop computer with incriminating documents, one photo album and some mobile phone handsets from the house they were taking shelter, the source further said.

However, it did not disclose the exact area where the raid had been carried out except saying Nepal border.

The arrested finance secretary Y Ingo Singh is married to the elder sister of the wife of C-in-C Kesho Meitei.

The two leaders had hired Rajesh to help them in the treatment of their ailing mother-in-law at Apollo Hospital, the source added.

However, their mother-in-law died at the hospital and cremated on the Nepal border where they were staying, it further said.

Ingo and Rajesh had been staying at the rented house in the Nepal border for about two months.

The duo has been remanded to NIA custody till April 4 after production before the investigating agency’s special court at Guwahati on Sunday.

The NIA further sealed a large building including its campus and seized two four wheeler vehicles belonging to Kesho at Siliguri, based on the information received from the recovered Laptop.

A team of Imphal West district police commandos were also reportedly stationed at Guwahati in its efforts to sniff out Kesho and Ingo. But the security team was delayed in carrying out their operation as information revealed that the duo was somewhere on the Nepal border.

KCP-MTF finance secretary Ingo was involved in the gruesome killing of a father and son who were the caretakers of Irilbung Water Supply at Irilbung in Imphal East a few months ago.
