Polygraph test for lawyer

IMPHAL, April 24: The Gauhati High Court, Imphal Bench issued a stay order against a directive of the JMIC, Imphal East today in connection with a petition made by the CBI.

In an incident which occurred on June 2011, a High Court court attendant namely Md Abdul Salam was allegedly assaulted by commandos near Wangkhei Puja Lampak, which was handed over to CBI.

In respect to the proceedings, an order was passed by the GHC barring the directive of the JMIC, Imphal East for a polygraph test (lie detector) of the petitioners, namely High Court Bar Association Secretary, M Roshni Piba and the court attendant Md Abdul Salam.

The counsel on behalf of the petitioners had informed the court that the two persons had never consented to go through with the Polygraph Test and the directive of the magistrate requiring them to appear before him was illegal and needs to be set aside.
