End Jessami dispute: NIPCO

IMPHAL, May 8: The National Identity Protection Committee (NIPCO) today said it wants both governments of Manipur and Nagaland to bring a long lasting solution to end the border dispute of Jessami and Melurie.

Saying that the state government’s apathy towards the standoff by leaving the victims of the dispute alone and without help is a sign of weakness, NIPCO asked the government on whether it will remain a mute spectator with regard to the dispute.

Demanding that both the governments should own up the responsibility if the dispute continues and if violence erupts again, it further added that the people of Manipur will not remain as spectators if the government keeps tight-lipped on the standoff.

NIPCO also appealed to the state government to deploy additional security forces to help guard the border and sought protection for the villagers of Jessami.
