Explosives laden truck seized

IMPHAL, May 26: An explosive laden truck along with two individuals bound for Tamenglong district of Manipur was intercepted today by a team of Assam Police at Joypur Kamaranga, under Lakhimpur PS of Cachar district, Assam.

According to a reliable source, the truck was intercepted during routine checking and frisking by a team of the Lakhimpur Police along the Highway some three kms away from the concerned police station.

The truck was loaded with 600 gelatine Sticks, 340 electronic detonators, 2300 non-electronic detonators and a 192 meter long fuse wire, the source said.

During interrogation, the two arrested along with the truck disclosed that they were bound for Tamenglong district of Manipur.

They had also disclosed that the explosives were meant to be used for blasting rock hills.

However, the Assam police believe that the explosives were meant for a Manipur hill based Naga militant group, the source informed.

The police are yet to disclose the identity of the two as investigation is still on, the source added.
