IMPHAL, May 17: Speaking at Audio CD release function FREINDS president, Sapamcha Jadumani said the government has failed to take any visible action on the demands for implementation of Inner Line Permit in the state since 2005.
An Audio CD titled ‘Tansinlakle Aeikhoi, Langoi Jal Aeikhoi’ was released at the Keishampat office of the FRIENDS.
Speaking further, he deliberated that FREINDS had been demanding the implementation of ILF to check the influx of outsiders in the state and added that the influx has adversely affected the indigenous population.
He further maintained that all the cries for territorial integrity of the state will be useless until the government acts up and check and regulate the influx of outsiders.
He added that a signature campaign was also initiated on May 10 at the Palace compound starting with the signature of titular King Leishemba Sanajaoba.
While urging the people of the state both from the Hills and valley district to cooperate with the FREINDS on the issue, Jadumani said that anyone from the state can join the signature campaign. They should just send in their names, address and signature to the office of the FREINDS by mid-June.
The signature campaign along with a memorandum will be submitted to the present government to be taken up during the upcoming Monsoon session of the state Assembly, he said.
Meanwhile, former FRIENDS treasurer and president Pensioners Union KB Sharma, further deliberated on line of agitation to be taken up in case of failure of the government to look into the issue.
He said a sit in protest will be staged on the first day of the Monsoon sitting of the Manipur Legislative Assembly. The sit in protest will be attended by FREINDS, the Elders Citizens Forum, state intellectuals and other leaders.
He had earlier announced before media persons that he will go on a fast unto death in demand of the implementation of the ILP in the state.
