GUWAHATI, May 11 : Two days after four Maoist were killed in an encounter with security forces at Sadia in Tinsukia district along the Arunachal Pradesh border, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Friday said that all insurgent groups in the north eastern region have a nexus with red rebels.
Addressing a press conference in Guwahati, the Assam chief minister said that, Maoist had set up their bases in the region specially in Assam and the North East insurgent groups helped them.

On May 9, when four Maoist were rebels killed, Paresh Asom led anti-talk faction United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) condemned the incident and gave their moral support to the Maoist by issuing a statement.
“It was another proof of link between the North East outfit groups and Maoists,“ said Gogoi.
“Maoists are establishing their network in all districts in upper Assam and now planned to spread into the lower Assam,“ Gogoi added.
The Intelligence Bureau (IB) said that Maoists had spread their network in 14 districts in the state and also set up few camps in Arunachal Pradesh.
The IB report said that a 20-member-group of Maoists recently trained in a NSCN (IM) camp in Manipur`s Senapati district.
To prevent the Maoist activities in the state and neighbouring states, Assam CM urged to the union government to extend special support to the region such as special schemes, joint operations in the other Maoist-infested states.
“For tackling this problem, we have to conduct operation not only in Assam but also in the neighbouring states. So I openly support the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) as conducting joint operations, which will give the way to tackling the problem,“ Gogoi said.
Meanwhile, Assam DGP Jayanta Narayan Choudhury said that Maoists had already formed their arms wing in the state and presently they have around 150 armed cadres. (IBNS)
