Seminar on physics for cultural heritage begins

IMPHAL, May 25: A two-day national seminar cum workshop on the topic “Physics for Cultural Heritage” has begun on Friday jointly organized by the Department of Physics, DM College of Science, Imphal and Archaeological Survey of India, New Delhi (ASI) at the Auditorium Hall, DM College of Science. 

Prof H Nandakumar, Vice Chancellor, Manipur University attended the opening ceremony of the seminar cum workshop as chief guest and Dr Ranabir, Principal, DM College of Science as president.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Nanadakumar expressed his sincere gratitude to the ASI and Department of Physics, DMC Science for organizing the seminar cum workshop timely in the effort to convey the information on how to preserve culture through physics which has become an integral part of the society.

With the seminar, the students will be able to concentrate more on physics and archaeology, he said while underlining the importance of physics in determining authenticities.

The great art of the famous Mona Lisa painting was determined in 1503 AD with the help of physics’s techniques and science laboratories, the Vice Chancellor noted.
