Tension in Senapati

IMPHAL, May 23: The Senapati District Students’ Association (SDSA) has strongly condemned the alleged physical assault of three Naga youths by some suspected Kuki youths from Haipi village on May 10.

According to a statement, the students’ union has also alleged that the concerned police have also failed to address or book those involved in the incident.

It further alleged that the incident happened at Kalapahar Bazar on May 10, under Kangpokpi Police Station.

Further elaborating on the incident, the statement alleged that three youths including a church chowkidar identified as M Olive, 21 of Yaikongpao village, T Careson, 23, and T Job, 20 both from Makhrelui village, Senapati District H/Q were assaulted for no reason by some 20 to 30 youths from Haipi village.

They were treated for head injuries and body pains, it claimed.

Moreover, the mob also robbed off a mobile phone, one silver chain and damage one phone and a wrist watch, it further alleged.

Till date, no action has been initiated against those youths and those irresponsible and communal police team who were at the site, it charged.

The SDSA will not remain as weak muted spectators to such sensitive incidents and discipline of the police department but react accordingly for justice, the statement continued.

The SDSA has also demanded the concerned district administration and the police authority to seriously investigate into the matter immediately, failure of which, it will be compelled to react effectively without any reservations, it further warned.
