IMPHAL, May 29: A young woman committed suicide by taking poisonous substance at Wangoo Sabal Maning Leikai under Kumbi Police Station yesterday.
Loitongbam Nirmala, 20, wife of L Anand, a resident of Wangoo Sabal Leikai took the extreme step around 3 pm at her home yesterday. She was rushed to RIMS, but succumbed around 7 pm the same day.
Nirmala, the young housewife married seven months ago. Sources said she had a quarrel with her husband before she decided to kill herself. Anand was not at home at the time of the incident.
Autopsy was conducted at the RIMS mortuary and handed over to her family today.
In another suspected suicide a young girl identified as Harina Begum was declared brought dead by the CHC, Jiribam today.
According to a source, Harina Beum, 19 daughter of Nur Rahaman of Chingdong Leikai, Jiribam was brought to the CHC after she had consumed poison in an act of suicide.
Doctors declared her as brought dead and the body was handed over to the family who later performed her last rites.
