IMPHAL May 8:  Thangmeiband MLA Khumukcham Joykishan told media persons today, ‘Works Minister Kh Ratankumar has assured him that the developmental works of the Watham Leirak, Thangmeiband will be restarted from May 9.

Briefing media persons, the MLA said that the road from Watham Leirak to RIMS Mortuary has remained unattended since it was digged up some three years back.

The JAC formed in this connection had already submitted an ultimatum to the government to take up the development work of the road by May 13 or the JAC will launched certain agitations from the next day, he further informed.

The JAC has also submitted a written memorandum to him on May 4 urging him to expedite the works at the earliest, he added.

However due to the Jiribam tour of the Works Minister, he was unable to meet the minister and speak to him regarding the issue, he added.

He also said that after the sit in protest held by the JAC on May 7, the next day on May 8, he personally apprise the minister on the condition of the said road stretch.

The Minister after talking to PWD officials has assured to take up work on the road stretch from May 9, he added.
