It has further continued that the bandh will be imposed against the failure to complete the construction of a suspension Bailey Bridge across the Barak River in between Dikiuram and Katang in Tamenglong District and the district Highway stretching from Khongsang to Tamenglong being neglected since last many years.

The ZSUM had conducted a recent inspection tour of the area, said the statement.

It was found during the tour that the abutment had capsized at Katang side, with pillars bending towards Barak River.

It has further alleged that anchor block installation is too high from the ground level (as compared to the bailey bridge

ofNH-37 at Barak and Makru River, the height .of the anchor block should be parallel to the abutment of the bridge).

The student body has also claimed that another problem is the deplorable condition of the district highway stretching from Khongsang to Tamenglong which is being neglected since the last many years.

It has further elaborated that the BRO has been entrusted developing the road since 2010, however  the BRO is yet to comply with the directive of the Deputy Secretary (Works).
