AR arrests 17 ZRO people

IMPHAL, June 23: A team of Assam Rifles arrested a group of 17 alleged cadres of Zomi Revolutionary Army/Zomi Re-Unification Organization along with a huge cache of arms and ammunition from Churachandpur district on June 20.

It may be mentioned here that ZRO is a signatory of the Suspension of Operations with Government of Manipur and India.

According to reliable source, the militants were arrested by 39th Assam Rifles Singhat Post during routine search and cordoning operation at Lungthun village under Singhat Police station around 5:30pm of June 20. The militants were arrested from the same place along with the arms and ammunitions, the source added.

The arrested militants are Nenmuan alias Nicholas, 34 son of (L) Janzaneng of New Lamka; Mamang alias Lunkhomang Michael, 28 son of Solet of jeling veng, Upper Lamka; Thianlal alias Jason, 25 son of Toujathang of Leizangphai; Tumjamang alias Joseph, 28 son of Jangkhomang of Pukpi village.

Others include Dillianmang alias Carson, 23 son of Tualgou of New Lamka; Siam Khianhou alias Riche, 30 son of Tualsum of New Lamka; Meirousang alias Arjan, 21 son of Liangzo of Minbung village, Mizoram, Phungsolian alias Alvin, 21 son of H GInmuankhang of Mongnom village, CCPur; Liandiakmuan alias Shalom, 24 son of Kamkhenpao of Tuina village, Singhat.

Further according to the source, the other arrested militants are Liangdingmuan alias Dingmuan, 18 son of Boulian of Bungmol village, CCpur; Sutkhansiam alias Shima, 21 son of Khanlianpao of Kangkap village; Chinmuanthang alias Perez, 18 son of Tumkhum of Songtalvillage, Thanlon; Thianlahven alias Johan, 28 son of Toujathang of Khajang village of Thanlon; Ginmuanlang alias Amitabh, 18 son of Pawtinmian of HQ Veng, CCpur; Kamkhongsang alias Sunil, 18 son of Thangkhunlal of Pearson village, CCPur; Paopiaklal alias Newman, 18 son of Khanthang of New Lamka and Liansangmuan alias Kisan, 22 son of Phungliankhan of Mawlnom village, CCpur.

The AR team also recovered several arms and ammunitions from the militant team including 15 AK assault rifles with 28 magazines and three Hand grenades, three Wireless Transmission sets, 1355 AK ammunitions and another two live rounds of M-16 rifle, the source informed.

Meanwhile, the Lamphel Police Station has taken up a case against the 17 arrested alleged militants under FIR No 133 (6)2012 of Lamphel PS under Section 400IPC, 25(1-c) Arms Act and 5 Explosives Substances Act, the source added.
