LAMKA, May 4: Residents of Churachandpur district have condemned the alleged act of three VDF personnel waylaying three individuals and baton charging on June 2 at Hiangtam Lamka areas around 9:30pm.
A press statement of the local units of the Paite Tribe council (PTC), Young Paite Association (YPA) as well as the Zomi Mothers Association (ZMA) issued after a joint meeting today said due to the highhandedness of the three VDF personnel three innocent people identified as N. Sonlian , Khamthianmung and EL Khansiam were seriously injured.
It said inspite of the fact they were supposed to maintain law and order as per the laws of the land they were doing the same duty according to their own whims and fancies and that too to victimise law abiding people.
It charged that their act goes against the solemn pledge they had taken during their induction into the service of the nation so as to be a custodian of the citizens and laws.
