IMPHAL, June 20: Decks has been cleared for the second session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly due to commence from June 27 till July 13.

A meeting of the Business Advisory Committee was held today with Speaker Thokchom Lokeshore Singh in the chair. The meeting was also attended the state Chief Minister and legislature party leaders.

The business of the first day would be confined to obituary references to MLAs and ex-MLAs who have passed away in recent time.

The Governor’s Address placed in the first session would be discussed on the second day.

The session will further resume on July 2 with a presentation f Budget Estimates, 2012-13, after a three days holiday on account of Kanglen which falls on June 29 and then the subsequent two days being Saturday and Sunday, the source informed.

A general discussion on the presented Budget Estimates will be held on July 3.

From July 4, the Assembly session will continue with Demand Discussions on several grants, 2012-13.

The second session of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly will conclude with consideration and passing of the Manipur Appropriation (No 3) Bill 2012 and other Government Bills. The concluding day will also take up the Private Members’ Business, the source added.

On the other hand, a meeting concerning the security measures in connection with the second session of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly on June 23 at the chamber of the speaker at the new Assembly complex, Chingmeirong.

According to a source, the meeting will be attended by MLA secretary, IGP (intelligence); DIG (designated) SHQ/BSF; CI (ops) Manipur Koirengei; SP Imphal West; SP, CID (SB), Manipur Legislative Assembly Director, Joint Secretary, Chief Secretary Officer, MLA, Dy Secretary (Administration) MLA.

Further, an official notification has advised all Employees of the Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretariat to attend office at 9:30am and to remain at their office till 4:30pm daily with immediate effect, informed a source.

The instruction has come following the authorities noticing that the attendance of the employees as irregular and not punctual.

The source also informed that, the employees have been instructed to remain in their office till the end of the day’s sitting of the ensuing Budget Session to be commenced from June 27 and the end of the normal office hour whichever is later.
