LAMKA, June 14: The United Peoples Front, UPF a SoO Signatory with both the Central and the state government has today condemned the alleged highhandedness of the Mizoram armed police for allegedly assaulting its vice chairman and c-i-c of Hmar Peoples Convention, HPC (D) Lalropuia and his deputy Bieknung on June 10 at Silchar airport.
Terming the MAP`s act on the two as one as a highly uncalled for at this point of time, the UPF in a release issued today has stated that the HPC(D) being a members of the UPF since the very inception and an integral part of the Suspension of Operation, SoO, under the UPF with the Union Government of India and its security forces.
It said that the UPF has been working towards bringing peace and tranquillity in the region and towards a political dialogue with the Union Government for the attainment of its goals while adding the action of Mizoram state government has been a rude shock to the Front.
The Front urged the government of India and the state government of Mizoram for immediate release of the vice chairman and his deputy so as to create a conducive and harmonious atmosphere for a negotiated settlement and peaceful solution.
