IMPHAL, June 22: Close on the heels of a reported gun fight between the NSCN (IM) and a combined team of NSCN (K) and ZUF at Haochong under Noney PS on June 20; a self-styled sergeant major of the NSCN (IM) was killed last night around 8:30pm at Tamenglong Bazar. The militant has been identified as sergeant major Athikho, 30 son of Nepuni of Kaibi village, Tadubi PS.
Sources informed that he was hit by a bullet on his left side chest while two others hit him on his back.
Post mortem of the dead body was conducted at Tamenglong district hospital and the dead body handed over to family, the source added.
