Manipur: Flood at Jiribam affects life

In Manipur, normal life has been badly affected in Jiribam sub-division of Imphal East district following incessant rain during the last three days. Many areas of the sub-division bordering Assam have been inundated by flood water overflowed from Jiribam River. More than 1000 people are taking shelter at the relief camp opened by a local club at Jirighat in Kamaranga. The FCI godown at Jiribam is also at the verge of immersion by flood water.
Meanwhile, water levels of many rivers in the Imphal valley are rising steadily above warning level following the incessant rain. Nambul River is flowing at flood level while Imphal River is flowing above warning level. Water level of Iril River and Thoubal River are also steadily increasing.
