Public cooperation needed: Yamthong

IMPHAL, June 16: The Saikul MLA Yamthong Haokip said any step towards development would be meaningless unless the people cooperate and support the action.

The MLA was speaking at his felicitation organized by the the Rural Upliftment Federation today at its office in Somrei village, Saikul today.

Addressing the felicitation programme, MLA Yamthong Haokip lauded the people for their support and warm welcome accorded to him.

The MLA said, there can be no development unless the people decide to co-operate with one another and with the government.

There will be no unity or understanding between the different communities residing in the state until we decide to cooperate with one another as we are all brothers and sisters.

He said his priority as an elected representative of the people would be among others development of roads for transportation and education.

He ended his speech by expressing his willingness to support and help in any endeavour of the people for development.

The function was also attended by villagers from several communities including from Chiru, Maring, Kabui, Koireng, Tangkhul, Vaiphei tribes of the village and other nearby villages.

Major highlights of the function are cultural dances by Tangkhul, Chiru and Vaiphei cultural troupes.
