Select schools to admit all seeking admission

IMPHAL, June 2: The state Education Minister has taken the decision to admit all the students applying for admission in the three Government schools; TG Higher Secondary School, Johnstone Higher Secondary School and CC Higher Secondary School at Imphal for the academic session 2012-13.

According to a release of the government, a large number of students from all the districts of the state are applying for admission into class XI in three premiere Government Hr. Sec. Schools, namely, T.G. Hr. Sec. School, Johnstone Hr. Sec. School and c.c. Hr. Sec. School at the state capital city Imphal  for the academic session 2012-13. However, the present intake capacity is found too low to accommodate students desirous to admit themselves in these Hr. Sec. Schools.

It has been brought to the notice of the Minister of Education yesterday, who instantly informed the Principal Secretary (Education/s) to have a meeting on the very next day with Principals of the schools. Minister took the meeting at 11.00 a.m. on the 2ndJune, 2012.

Just after the meeting Minister of Education, Pr. Secy. (Edn/S), Director of Education (S), Chief Engineer of Engineering Wing of Education Department, Principals of the three schools visited the schools, saw the infrastructure available, discussed on the spot the issues arising out of the demand for admission in the Govt. schools.

Minister of Education took the decision to admit all the students applying for admission in the three Govt. schools and advised the officers almost and the principals to take up necessary actions for it.

Necessary infrastructure and equipment including class rooms, computers, library, proper campus, etc. and also sufficient teaching staff required for accommodation of all the desirous students have to be provided under a special arrangement. It is obligatory for the government to provide facilities for admission of students in the government schools, particularly for those belonging to poor families.

The meritorious students will be taken due care of for their outstanding performance and it is also to be ensured that all students receive proper education in the three Govt. Hr. Sec. Schools with nominal expenditure on the part of students` parents.

Further, necessary hostels for students, both boys and girls, prepaid electricity connection, renewable energy like solar power, vocational training on several professions including information technology, co-curricular activities instilling life skills in the young minds, etc. figure on the future road map of these schools with a view to meeting educational demands of students and parents.
