ABA defeats XI-Star 4-1

IMPHAL, July 24: YWC, Thambalkhong faces sure relegation from the Imphal East super division football league after its players failed to come out to the ground today even after arriving at the venue.

Their opponent KIYC, Kshetri Awang Leikai players were however out in the playground.

The second ground match of the day which is also the last match of the super division ended without a ball being kicked after the YWC players fail to enter the playing field even as their opponents were waiting on the field.

The match result will however be announced tomorrow after a meeting of the organizing committee.

YWC stands at the bottom of the table with just one point while KIYC has four points while excluding today’s result.

Meanwhile, YOSC, Khurai with nine points is the new Super Division, Imphal East champion.

In the first match of day, XI Star Sporting Union, Akampat which had their chances of becoming the champions by winning today’s match lost to ABA, Kshetrigao by a humiliating 4-1.

ABA with today’s win is now above YWC at four points and has been saved from being relegated.

Boipu scored twice while Salman Khan and Md Azaruddin added one each for ABA, while M Somendro scored the face saving goal for XI-Star.

With today’s loss, XI Star has seven points.

Meanwhile, the first division league tournament of the district will start from tomorrow at the Kuman Lampak football practice ground participated by 10 teams.
