AMSU to participate North East cultural festival at Itanagar

IMPHAL, July 22: A four-day North East Cultural Festival is being organized by North East Students’ Organization (NESO) from August 7 to 10 at Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh. The festival will be hosted by All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU).

The NE Cultural Festival will be participated by delegates from All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU); All Assam Students’ Union (AASU); All Arunachal Pradesh Student’s Union (AAPSU); Tripura Students’ Federation (TSF); Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP); Naga Students’ Federation (NSF); and Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) & Garo Students’ Union (GSU).

The participants from each states of North East will showcase the cultural & indigenous games of their respective states at the festival.

At the four-day festival, the AMSU team, who will represent the state, will showcase indigenous cultural-Pung, Jagoi, Penna, Folk, Theatre, Sumang-leela and indigenous games-Thang-ta, Kang, Mukna, Yubi-Lakpi, Sagol-Kangjei and Sepak-Takraw.

Members of NESO from various parts of the seven states of North East have shown great interest and requested for a special exhibition of Sepak-Takraw at the festival. The host of the festival AAPSU and NESO are also discussing with AMSU for the arrangement of playground for ‘Sagol-Kangjei’ and ‘Kang’ and transportation of houses related problems.

There is provision for intellectuals in the fields of indigenous games and culture of the state to participate the festival as resource persons.

Also, there is provision for opening stalls of handloom & handicraft, indigenous food & product of the state at the festival. 

The AMSU has appealed to all the Indigenous Games & Cultural teams, Handloom & Handicraft, Indigenous Food & Product related institutes, organizations, government departments, associations, federations, transporter societies etc to help them represent the state at the festival.
