To commemorate 2012 London Olympics and support the Indian Contingent, 42 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under aegis of HQ IGAR(S) organized a “Commemorative Run” for the students of Assam Rifles Junior High School at Pallel garrison on 30 July 2012.

The exhilarating run induced a spirit of togetherness and nationalism apart from the confidence in Indian Olympians performing well in London Olympics.

The race was flagged off by Brigadier Upendra Dwivedi, Commander, 26 Sector Assam Rifles.

A large gathering of students, teachers and parents bore a testimony to the memorable run and to cheer the participants.

 

Speaking on the occasion Commander 26 Sector Assam Rifles, expressed his best wishes for the 81 strong Indian contingents for 2012 London Olympics.

He also mentioned that, it is a proud moment that five Olympians of this contingent are from Manipur.

In another occasion,27 Assam Rifles of 28 Sector under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organised a volleyball match, based on the theme ‘Friendship through Sports’.

The Final Match was played Grace English High School vs Standard English High school on 29 July 12 at Sugnu and the team of Standard High School emerged as winner.

A large number of enthusiastic spectators to include various civil dignitaries of the area were also present to cheer-up the teams.

27 Assam Rifles distributed prizes to the winners and the runner-up teams and exhorted them to pursue the path of all round development so as to grow into responsible citizens on whom the future of the country depends.
