Barak Bridge to be completed by March next year

IMPHAL, July 25: A joint meeting of PWD, Manipur and the Zeliangrong Students’ Union, Manipur was held in the office chamber of the Works Minister on the July 23 in presence of MLA Tamei A/C, Z Kikhonbou Newmai over the issue of the long pending incompletion of Barak Bridge between Dikiuram and Katang under North Eastern Council Scheme, said a release of ZSUM.

The Zeliangrong Students’ Union, Manipur submitted a charter of demand before the talk begins. After a long marathon discussion, the department has agreed to complete the Barak Bridge latest by March 31, 2013, it said.

The memorandum of understanding was finally signed of which Ram Muivah, principal secretary (Works), representing the Government of Manipur and D Stephen Zeme chairman was signed on behalf of the Zeliangrong Students’ Union, Manipur while Z Kikhonbou, MLA of Tamei A/C was signed as the witness of the discussion, it further said.

The ZSUM appeals to the general public and different organization to extend its fullest con-operation to the contractors and department to complete the work at earliest time.

Meanwhile, the district level essay competition which was postponed some few months back due to the first terminal examination has been rescheduled on August 25. The venue and the topic of the competition are remained same. The central team directed to all the units of ZSUM to do all the needful things for the said program.
