IMPHAL, July 22: National Association of Fishermen, Manipur State Unit has submitted a memorandum to Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries demanding grant of financial assistance in favour of the drought affected fish farmers of the state.
According to the memorandum, the official of the National Association of Fisherman, Manipur State Unit have visited at Thoubal District, Imphal West District around the Loktak Lake found that the present drought has seriously affected to the fish farmers of the state due to lake of fresh water for the fish rearing in their fishing ponds. Some of the fishes died due to lake of fresh water (rain water).
Now 1250 members of the association have reported to this office regarding the problems of drought at present, it added.
