IMPHAL, July 22: A radiant MPCC chief Gaikhangam today congratulated the MLAs of the state for voting cent percent for the UPA candidate Pranab Mukherjee for the post of the President of the country crossing party lines.
Terming Mukherjee’s victory as ‘thumping majority’ Gaikhangam who is also the state Home Minister said, the country has gained by electing such an illustrious person as the President.
Speaking to media persons at Congress Bhawan in Imphal this evening, all the MLAs have voted from their conscience and it shows the maturity of the state MLAs.
He however refused to comment when he was asked if it could also mean the lack of a viable opposition in the state.
