ILP agitation in Jiribam

JIRIBAM, July 11: In a show of solidarity to the demand for the implementation of the Inner Line Permit System in the state, the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System staged a sit in protest in front of the Congress Bhawan office, Babupara, Jiribam. The demonstration which was participated by several localities started at 10am.

The demonstrators held placards reading `Eikhoi tung gi meerolgidamak Kangleipak ta Inner Line Permit chatnahanshi`, `We Want Inner Line permit system`, `Save indigenous people` and `Implement Inner Line permit`.

Speaking to media persons a demonstrator said that the IPL system is recognized by the Indian Constitution and so the government should support it and implement it in the state at the earliest.

She continued that the system will prove beneficial for the state in the long run.

Another said that the people of the state should unite together regardless of our community or tribe.

She added that the demonstrators will continue with different forms of agitation until the government implement the system.

Columnist, Nabakumar oinam, Young Horizon, president Th Ratan and social worker Maipaksana Mangang spoke as resource persons during the sit in protest.
