ILP sit-ins continue

IMPHAL, July 9: Students of several schools in the state today showed their support for the demand of the Inner Line Permit in the state by staging sit in protests in front of their school gates.

The schools where sit in protest were held include the Royal Academy of Science, Wangkhei, Pioneer Academy, Palace Compound, Prime Rose English School, Khabeishoi, Leishemba Maheikol, Kangla Chingarel, Success School, Waiton Lamkhai, P Namjoklung High School, Sawombung Sairem, Young Pioneer’s English School, Khurai, Regular English School, Zenith Academy, MEM Higher Secondary, HRD Academy and CC Higher Secondary School.

Students staging sit-in-protest demanding implementation of Inner Line Permit System in Manipur on Monday

The sit ins were organized by the Joint Committee on ILP system comprising of All Manipur Students’ Union, Democratic Students’ Alliance, Manipur, Kangleipak Students’ Association, Students’ Welfare Association of Kangleipak, Students’ Union of Kangleipak.

The students held placards reading “Meeyam gi Mihut Oeiriba MLA, Ministers singna tungi Mirolgidamak Munna Khanthabiyu”, “Save Our Indigenous People”, Kangleipak Manipur da ILP Chatnahullu, Yahou Meesing Kallu”, etc.

An awareness programme on the issue was also held at Oinam Government girls’ School.

Local clubs and organizations of the state organized sit-in-protests at various places demanding the implementation of Inner Line Permit System in the state.

All Manipur Handicapped Persons’ Welfare Association staged the sit-in-protest at Kwakeithel Akham Leikai Community Hall, Inter-State Taxi Association at Khoyathong, Imphal to Mayang Imphal Auto Transport Association at Langthabal Phuramakhong and women vendors at Konung Mamang Keithel.

The protestors demanded the implementation of ILP System in the state to check influx of illegal migrants and save the future of Manipur.
