Implement revised state AIDS policy

IMPHAL, July 7: The revised AIDS Policy of the state needs to be enforce/implement in the best interest of the PLHAs and the general population in order to reduce new HIV infection significantly.

This was said by Lalpu Hmangte, secretary, Manipur AIDS Action Net, during a press conference held at Manipur Press Club today.

He said that as the effort to control HIV & AIDS without the answer to the problems of the PLHA (people living with HIV & AIDS) and the efforts to prevent and control without the active participation of the PLHA has been futile.

As such a PLHA centred AIDS policy has been demanding in the state. In view of the needs Manipur AIDS Action Net (MAAN) organized and conducted consultation workshop on AIDS policy where five committee members were elected.

He further continued that several request has been made to the then Minster (Health) Jayenta Kumar Singh, former Speaker I Hemochandra and Dr I Ibohanbi Singh, secretary MLFA for early implementation/enforcement of the revised State AIDS Policy in the year 2010.

Manipur AIDS Action Net has appealed the concerned authorities, MLAs and ministers of the state to pass/enforce the revised AIDS Policy during the monsoon session.
