Manipur,IMPHAL, July 20: The JAC formed against the disappearance of Irungbam Irabanta Meitei has called a 60 hours total bandh in the state starting from 5am, July 21 till 5pm July 23.

It may be mentioned that Irabanta a contractor engaged in the Khoupum area has remained traceless since May 27, after he accompanied one Winner for a meeting with the NSCN (IM).

Speaking to media persons at the Manipur Press Club this evening, convenor of the JAC, Hidam Sheila claimed that ever since Irabanta had remained traceless, locals along with the family have been appealing to the government and the concerned militant outfit to clarify on the disappearance and his whereabouts, however there has been no proper action from the government as well as the militant outfit.

She continued that the locals, JAC and family want the truth behind the disappearance and whether he is alive or killed. The concern outfit should also clarify on Irabanta’s faults.

Iranbanta’s wife, Modhubala lamented that even though her family, locals and the JAC had been desperate to find her husband for more than a month and a half, however, both the government and the militant outfit has remained silent, which is inhuman.

She further mourned the inability of the state government and its agencies’ inability to arrest Winner even after more than a month and half has passed since Irabanta had disappeared.
