Manipur Cabinet meeting on SoO today

Manipur ,IMPHAL, July 19: The manipurĀ  state cabinet will meet tomorrow to consider the prevailing drought situation in the state.

It may be recalled here that, there had been four cabinet meetings this month while there were five cabinet meetings last month.

In the last government, there was a cabinet meeting every 3 days.

According to a reliable source, the cabinet will also review the extension of Suspension of Operation with Kuki Militant outfits and the present law and order situation of the state.

Meanwhile, it is also learnt that the state cabinet in a recent sitting had also decided to urge the centre to provide Rs 4.27 crore as transport cum storage subsidy for the current year.

The state government had also resolved that the state Home department will coordinate with the Agriculture department and check the cross border smuggling of fertilizers from the state.

The state Agriculture department has also been advised to strictly monitor the prices of fertilizers in the state and ensure that the government fixed prices are implemented.

It is also learnt that the recent sitting of the state cabinet had approved to constitute an Assessment Committee on the recent July 11 burning of two vehicles along the Imphal Moreh road near Thamnapokpi.

The committee is to be headed by state Transport Commissioner Ram Muivah and comprising of representatives of police, finance and affected passengers.

The committee is supposed to submit their report within one week after which the government will consider the provision of financial assistance for the loss of personal belongings, goods and damage to vehicles.

Meanwhile, the source informed that owners and passengers of 25 vehicles which were also looted on the same day as the burning of the two vehicles have claimed a sum of Rs 10,71600 while owners and passengers of 13 goods carriers claimed Rs 1,60400 while the owner of the burnt Tata Sumo has claimed Rs 2,75000 as financial assistance from the government.

The other vehicle which was also burnt has also placed its financial claim.
