Monsoon Floods: In Assam rescue and relief operations in full swing

In Assam, rescue and relief operations are in full swing in 13 flood affected districts. The National Disaster Response Force, the State Disaster Response Force, the Army, Assam Rifles and the Air Force have been deployed in 13 districts for rescue and relief operations. Official sources today said that the so far 104 people have died in flood and landslides while 15 people remained untraceable. Though the water level receded, 3 lakh 83 thousand inmates have still taken shelter at 650 relief camps. Health department deployed 180 medical teams with essential medicines. The recent flood wave damaged 48 thousand hectare cropland and infrastructure across the state.

A central team will visit the state soon to assess the damage caused by flood.
Principal Secretary of the state Revenue Department said that some members of Central team have been assessing the damaged caused by floods. But the full team will arrive in the state once the state government submits memorandum based on the reports of the Deputy Commissioners.
