IMPHAL, July 10: Manipur Police Department is working under a complex situation dealing with more than 50 underground outfits in the state, stated home minister Gaikhangam while clarifying to the cut motions raised by the opposition MLAs to the demand of Manipur Police.

The police personnel are working day and night taking risks of their lives. They have been given trainings to develop discipline and become people-friendly. Seminars and workshops are organized regularly at the Police Headquarters and District Police Headquarters.

The Grievances Redressal Cell of the Police Department will be strengthened. 24 more posts of woman constables were added to accommodate the quota for sportspersons after taking the cabinet approval, he stated.

The salaries of nine CRTOs could not be withdrawn due to incompletion in the formulation of MGEL. The state home government will take up necessary steps to strengthen the police personnel in penetrating the interior areas of hill districts, Gaikhangam noted.

He further maintained that more than 4000 posts are yet to be filled up in the Police Department. The seniority merit list of the police personnel is well maintained and the general transfer and postings of IRB and MR are done company wise in order to cope up the financial implications.

The police will strive to frame charge-sheets for every registered case, Gaikhangam added.
