IMPHAL, July 7: Manipur People’s Party (MPP) has decided to render moral support to PA Sangma in the coming presidential election scheduled on July 19.
Addressing media persons today at MPP head-office, MPP President Sansam Umananda stated that the MPP will give moral support to PA Sangma even though the party could not vote in the presidential election.
He further proposed the state government to set up the Legislative Council where intellectuals and qualified persons in the fields of art, film and literature can be nominated by the Governor as members of the Legislative Council instead of appointing the Parliamentary secretaries.
The MPP will also organize seminars and panel discussions for the establishment of Legislative Councils in the state, Umananda noted.
