DIMAPUR, July 29: With the cease fire pact between the NSCN-IM and the government of India completing 15 years in two days` time, rallies in all the “Naga areas” are likely to be held in the later part of August urging the “Naga negotiators” and New Delhi for the early settlement of the Naga political problem.
On July 31, the truce between the Isak-Muivah group of the NSCN and New Delhi completes 15 years.
Meanwhile, the rallies are to be organised by the Naga Hoho.
Naga Hoho general secretary Chuba Ozukum when contacted by Newmai News Network tonight has said that the Naga Hoho and the Eastern Naga Peoples Organisation (ENPO) are yet to chalk out the tentative dates for the proposed rallies.
Besides these rallies, Churches in “Naga areas” are also planning to have prayer programmes for the success of the ongoing Naga peace talks.
Meanwhile, NSCN-IM leaders headed by its chairman Isak Chisi Swu and general secretary Thuingaleng Muivah along with 13 other members of the outfit are camping in New Delhi at the moment.
It is still unclear whether the NSCN-IM delegation will meet Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.
This time, the scene centering around the Naga peace talk has entered an interesting path with Nagaland legislators cutting across political lines joined the chorus by forming a Joint Legislators Forum (60 Nagaland MLAs). These 60 MLAs will meet the central leades in connection with the Naga peace talks on August 7 and 8 in New Delhi.
Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio had gone to the extent of offering to resign from his post to pave way for the Naga solution if need be.
