IMPHAL, July 10: Chief Minister Okram Ibobi today introduced the Manipur Parliamentary Secretary Bill in the House amidst stern opposition from the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), Manipur Unit which is of the view that the appointment of Parliamentary Secretaries will result in unnecessary expenses from the state’s exchequer.

The Manipur Parliamentary Secretary (Appointment, Salary and Allowances and Miscellaneous Provisions Bill, 2012) was unanimously admitted by the members.

RD & PR minister Francis Ngajokpa also introduced the Manipur Panchayati Raj (Seventh Amendment) Bill, 2012 in the House. The bill was admitted by the members unanimously.

Francis also tabled a gazette copy of the Manipur Panchayati Raj (Sixth Amendment) Ordinance, 2012 which was promulgated by the Governor Gurbachan Jagat.
