The family members of the rescued girls thanked Jiribam Police for their swift action in rescuing them. The girls could have been in trouble if they were not rescued timely.
Manipur, JIRIBAM, July 18: Jiribam Police had rescued five children who stealthily tried to travel to Silchar after running away from their boarding houses yesterday.
Jiribam OC L Khogen stated that three girls and two boys were rescued by the police at Jiribam after getting specific information about the children from Imphal East SP.
Jiribam Police intercepted a Silchar-bound Tata Sumo coming from Imphal and found the five children inside the vehicle. They were travelling to Silchar without anybody’s companion.
The rescued girls were identified as Gaineiliu Panmei, 13, daughter of Neikhon Panmei of Ruangdai, Nungba, Gaithoilu Riamei, 12, daughter of Gongthonlung Riamei of Phalong Village, Tamenglong, and Rizpa Panmei, daughter of San Panmei of Konthoujam Maning Leikai. All three girls are students of King’s School, Luwangbam and they are staying at the houses of their relatives at Koirengei.
They boarded the Tata Sumo from Wahengbam Leikai Jiri Parking after getting two tickets. They said they were not called by anybody nor they had travelled to Silchar before.

Meanwhile, the two boys of Kakching Public School, namely Luwangthem Pikish Singh, 12, son of Munal Singh of Kakching Phoushupat Leikai, and Naorem Rohit Meetei, 13, son of N Norendro Meitei of Kakching Chumnang Thong Pereng were also rescued from the same Tata Sumo vehicle at Jiribam. Their parents have come to Jiribam to take their wards.
