IMPHAL, July 7: Manipur which known as the powerhouse of Indian Football is losing its shine due to lack of interest by the concerned authorities in empowering the young footballers in the state.

This was said by M Gouramangi, who is an international football player, speaking with media persons after a friendly football match played between AnoubaImagiMangal (AIM), Khabam and Outsider XI at Liberal College, Luwangsangbam.

Gouramangi is also one of the selectedplayers of Indian Football Team by AIFF to play at the Nehru Cup Football Tournament 2012.

He further said that in other states of India many football academies has been opened and more are still opening but in Manipur there is no sign of it.Organizing some tournament will not bring any changes as many changes in technique and tactics has evolved in the present scenario of football.

He continued that for the pass many years, number of players from the state have been contributing in the Indian team, and not only that many players of the state have also been leading the team as captain of the team. Butif this present trend continues then there is no hope of Manipur producing any good players in the future.

He also thinks that organizing friendly matches of players of the state who are playing outside the state off seasons will also help promote the game. Football fans and sympathizer are also very much needed to promote the game.

Govin and Sushilkumar, who have provisionally selected as Indian team to play at Nehru Cup 2012, were also seen playing for Outsider XI team in today`s friendly match.

Jimmy, Manimohon, Hemanta and Ratan, who have represented Manipur in many national level football matches, were seen playing for AIM team.

Outsider XI beat AIM 2-1 in the friendly match played today.
