Students injured in police action

IMPHAL, July 13: At least 13 students of Churachand Higher Secondary School were injured in police action when they tried to carry out a protest rally demanding the implementation of Inner Line Permit System today.

The students gathered around the school gate with banners and placards but they were prevented by the police from carrying out the rally due to lack of DC permit.

The police baton-charged the students when they tried to carry out the rally forcibly. The students also stoned at the police resulting in a fierce altercation.

The situation calmed down with the intervention of the school Principal and other teachers.

Sit-in-protests were also held at Kwakeithel Laishram Leikai Ereima Mandop, Singjamei Chingamathak, Kongpal Kshetri Leikai, Singjubung Khongnang Makhong and Keirao Awa Chingkhong demanding the implementation of ILP in the state.
