Students protest bomb threat

IMPHAL, July 19: The All Manipur Recognised Schools Welfare Association today organized a sit in protest in front of the Pari Emom Singdam Sang School Langjing gate decrying a bomb threat on the school on July 17.

The sit in protest was attended by students, parents, teachers staff, non-teaching staff, meira paibis and local clubs of the locality.

Speaking to media persons during the demonstration, principal of the school, S Memcha Chanu said unidentified persons had threatened the school security guard using guns.

But the grenade was found only in the late evening around 8pm the same day, she continued.

The bomb was later retrieved by the Patsoi police, she informed.

The demonstrators further appealed the concern parties to clarify on the threat at the earliest and further added not to repeat such threat on any educational institutions.

The demonstrators also hold placards reading, “We stand against the Barbaric act of terrorism”, “School is a sacred place of learning not a bloody battle field”, “We condemn bomb threat in schools, we condemn gun culture”, “Don’t threaten school students by placing bombs”, etc.
