IMPHAL, July 24: The driver of the Winger involved in an accident yesterday at Utlou killing a man and his pregnant wife has been remanded to judicial custody by the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Bishnupur today. The wife who was undergoing treatment at the Shija Hospital ICU since yesterday succumbed to her injuries this early morning at 4:30am.
It may be mentioned that a husband was killed while his pregnant wife seriously injured when their Honda Activa collided head on with the Tata Winger bearing regd no MN 04 A 4070 along the Imphal-Moirang road.
The couple has been identified as Laishangbam Bachao, 33 son of L Ibohal of Nambol Kabo Wakching and his wife identified as L (o) Sushini Devi, 30.
The Honda Activa borne couple was heading towards Imphal from Nambol while the Winger was coming from the Imphal side when the accident occurred at Utlou.
It is also learnt that the driver identified as Maibam Ratan, 30 son of Ahanjao of Nambol Kongkham was remanded to judicial custody by the lower court after his failure to furnish his bail bond.
The dead bodies of the couple were handed over to family members this late morning after post mortem at the RIMS.
