IMPHAL, Aug 10: Kshetrigao MLA Md Amin Shah was unanimously elected the Chairperson of State Haj Committee this afternoon, according to sources.
The election proceeding for the top Haj post was begun today at 2.30 pm at the State Guest House, Sanjenthong with Principal Secretary of MOBC W L Hangsing as the Returning Officer.
Sources said, nominations were called till 3 pm to which only the nomination papers for Md Amin Shah was submitted.
Following scrutiny of the papers, Amin Shah was declared elected as the Chairperson of the Haj Committee.
MLA Amin Shah will hold the post till 2015.
The State Haj Committee with 16 members was earlier constituted by state Governor Gurbachan Jagat. According to the rules, the election for the post of Chairman was conductd by MOBC after 45 days from the day of constitution of the committee.
