In Assam, two more bodies have been found taking the death toll in the recent violence to 75.

State Home Secretary said security forces had intensified patrolling in the violence-marred areas. The police have so far arrested 170 miscreants for indulging in violent activities. A CBI team is visiting the violence-affected areas on Thursday to inquire about the incidents.

This follows a request by State Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi to the central investigating agency. A four-member team of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) visited the relief camp. Around 3.50 lakh people are being sheltered in some 245 camps. A State group of Ministers also visited the relief camps in Dhubri and Chirang districts.

AIR correspondent reports that the situation in the Bodoland Territorial Area and Dhubri district is calm with no fresh incident of violence reported in the last 36 hours.
