Manipur, IMPHAL, August 9: The Manipur MBBS/BDS Entrance exam 2012 is still in a state of controversy as the judiciary has announced different directives on the issue.
A double bench ruling of Justice AK Goel and N Koteshwor in the principal bench of the Gauhati High Court on August 2 directed that the final list notified by the Directorate of Health Services, Manipur, on July 23 should be duly recognized by the state and the selected candidates should be given the necessary counseling as per the government selection protocol.
However, the directive of the GHC has been challenged again by the petitioners. The challenge has been made in court by six students yesterday namely Rk Geeta, 20, D/o Rk Saratchandra of Uripok Sinam Leikai, Urikhinbam Sumparity Devi,20, D/o U Asokumar of Karam Awang Leikai,Malemkhombi Loukrakpam,20, D/o L Ingobi of Moirangkampu Sajeb Mayai Leikai, Thongam Johnson Singh ,24, S/o Th Nandakeshwor Singh of Heinoubok Mamang Leikai, Arungovin Huirem,21, S/o Somorjit of Samurou Awang Leikai and Irungbam Famous Singh,20, S/o Shyam of Khundrakpam Mayai Leikai.
According to the petition filed by the six students, a ruling by Justice Tayenjam Nandakumar held on July 20 had directed that the last announcement of the revised result of the last entrance test of the MBBS exam, 2012, should be considered null and void.
However, the respondents had appealed to the same court in a principal bench against the mentioned ruling by Justice Tayenjam Nandakumar. Further, the appeal was admitted in court and after an hearing lasting for two days, the Principal Bench had quashed the directive of Tayenjam Nandakumar and had further notified that the result announced on July 23 should be accepted and the candidates selected by Manipur Health Services should be further referred to commence training beginning August 11.
Despite the ruling, the petitioners had again submitted an appeal against the interim order passed by the Principal and that the last cut out list should be modified and candidates selected on merit basis. But, the appeal has been dismissed by the Court today.
It may be mentioned that the petitioners were represented by advocate Hemchandra and the respondents include Health commissioner, Moses Challai and Sh Surchandra Sharma, Director of Health Services Manipur.
