DMRAO lifts I/W Super league

IMPHAL, August 25: DMRAO, Awang Sekmai lifted the 13th S Birendra Singh Memorial Super Division Football League Imphal West Super Division trophy at the THAU ground today.

The Awang Sekmai team were held in a goalless draw by NACO, Nambul Mapal in its last match of the league.

DMRAO with 12 points lifted the trophy.

NACO with eight points is at the sixth position.

The league had started on July 29 participated by 7 teams.

Meanwhile, in the last match of the league, Sagolband United defeated THAU, Thangmeiband by 1-0 to become the second on the points tally.

SU has ten pints while, THAU has eight points and ended at the fifth place.

The last league was scored through a spot kick taken by S Bishorjit in the 64th minute.

The spot kick was awarded due to a deliberate handling of the ball inside the penalty area by Joseph Golmei of THAU. He was also shown the red card.

The closing function of the league was attended by Sekami MLA, Kh Devendro Singh, THAU president, Kh Bira Singh and Donor S Birachandra and IWDFA president S Sanatomba as chief guest, guests of honour and president, respectively.
