IMPHAL, August 8: The All Manipur Progressive Farmers’ Association (AMPFA) has condemned the state government for not following its cabinet resolution declared earlier to make special arrangement in favour of the drought affected farmers.

According to a release of AMPFA, due to less rainfall many farmers have failed to cultivate their fields while those farmers who have manage to cultivate and have planted crops are likely to face less production for this year.

The AMPFA has also raised many questions why the ministers, MLAs and MI staffs are laying idle. Even though the government has provided Urea at a subsidise rate of Rs 278.80 per bag but the farmers are still buying it at the rate of Rs 350 to 520 per bag, it said.

Further, it has appealed the government to make arrangement like mobile shop to provide fertilizer for every district, as the government godowns are all located at Imphal and when it reaches other districts it ends up costing Rs 400 to 500 including taxi fare.
